Figure register v1.7.2 · last updated 31 August 2026
Every figure Maslow publishes about the member-owned sector is held in a single register, and every page that carries one is checked against it. This page is generated from that register, so what you read here is what the check enforces — not a separate description of it.
Maslow — Global Member-Owned Finance: Reach and Capacity (July 2026 reach study)
- at least 178,555 member-owned financial institutions
- at least 508.7 million members
- across 109 countries and jurisdictions
- at least US$11.30 trillion in assets
As at 2024. Source last read 31 August 2026.
Floor summed from 39 system populations, each carrying its own primary source. Published as "at least" — a lower bound with working behind it, not a third-party point estimate. WOCCU is one of the 39 inputs, not the source.
The reach study is not published. It is Maslow's own analysis: a floor summed from 39 system populations, each carrying its own primary source. The working is available on request — there is no public link to give and we would rather say so than point at something that is not it.
International Cooperative Alliance
- approximately 3 million cooperatives — Wider cooperative economy, distinct from the financial-institution figures.
- more than 1 billion members — Wider cooperative economy.
As at 2024. Source last read 31 August 2026.

What this register does not cover
The check runs against the live web pages and the published press boilerplates. It does not read the press-pack PDFs — their text is broken up by kerning and cannot be searched reliably — and it does not read the Offer documents, which hold their own controlled values and are reconciled by a person. A clean result here is not evidence about those.
